Author John Grisham Fan Q&A – TIME.com

See on Scoop.itWriting “Rightly”

This former lawyer—and lawmaker—found his greatest success writing legal thrillers like The Client and A Time to Kill. His latest book, The Appeal, is out Jan. 29.

Penelope‘s insight:

How do I love John Grisham? Let me count the ways… His lawyerly books don’t read like a stuffy, dusty  law journal, but instead more like “Law on Speed”.

When I stumbled across a fan Q&A with this baseball-loving, former lawyer I just had to stop what I was doing and revel in his words. His newest book, “Calico Joe” weaves together mystery and his love for baseball into a very intriguing story. I don’t care much for baseball, but I truly did enjoy this novel.

Pause for a moment with your coffee or tea, and enjoy some words of wisdom from one of my favorite authors.

John Grisham and Baseball?

by John Grisham

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is a new and different twist of a book by John Grisham. It is totally out of the realm of his usual legal thrillers. It took quite a few pages of reading for me to get into the groove of it. The reason for this is that I’m not a big baseball fan, so talk of stats and baseball greats were not something I usually enjoy. However, the further I delved into the book, the more I enjoyed the fully-developed characters and the intertwining of seemingly unrelated relationships. I recommend anything that John Grisham writes. He is one of my favorites.
