Facebook Pages: learn the correct steps to create and set up a Facebook Page for your business.

Penelope‘s insight:

If you have not set up an author page on Facebook for your ebook promotion and marketing, then you are missing out on thousands of possible readers.

This very informative article takes you by the hand and leads you step-by-step to create your very own page for your website, author name, or book. You can create multiple business pages, so the sky’s the limit! At the very least create a page for your author name, where you can list your books and promotions on your page.

Here’s my page for my website: http://facebook.com/PhilosBooks

and an example of the page I set up for my author name: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Penelope-Silvers/547480878598060?ref=hlhttps://www.facebook.com/pages/Penelope-Silvers/547480878598060?ref=hl

As you can see, all my books are front and center on my banner. VERY IMPORTANT: When creating any Facebook fan pages, make sure you are logged in as your personal facebook profile before creating. This allows you to switch back and forth between pages using the little gear on the upper right corner.

Penelope‘s insight:

This was just too clever not to share. This funny infographic is comparing 10 Social Media Sites to their animal kingdom equivalent. I especially love the one on Google+.

Here is a chuckle for your Monday, as we all probably need it after the weekend! 😉 Take from it what you will, and promote your books on the sites you feel will give you the most traction.

Upcoming Facebook Changes to Affect Indie Authors

See on Scoop.itEBook Promotion and Marketing

According to Social Media maven Mari Smith, Facebook is about to make changes that will affect indie authors who use the social networking site to promote their books.

Penelope‘s insight:

I don’t usually scoop on this day, but this was a true scooper!

Facebook is holding a press conference next Thursday apparently to unveil an all-new News Feed for both mobile and desktop. Maybe with filtered streams other than Top Stories or most recent? Possibly even a single column Timeline rollout. These include a Photos feed of Facebook and Instagram photos (Think: author photos and book cover photos). Cool!

Also, check out Facebook’s “Graph Search”. Click through to the article to find out how to get your Facebook author page “Graph Search ready”. It is supposed to excite users with thousands of ways to search for things related to our interests and friends.

What could this mean for us authors? Instantaneous updates of our photos to mobile phones and desktops from our FB pages!

5 Simple Steps to Marketing your Blog’s Content with Social Media – Jeff Bullas

See on Scoop.itEBook Promotion and Marketing

5 Simple Steps to Marketing your Blog’s Content with Social Media.

Penelope‘s insight:

Jeff Bullas has shared, in his usual funny way, some very simple but effective tips to share your content with the world.  He states that a blogger needs to develop the skills of a drug dealer, a teacher and a chef. Authors love to write, and they should be writing every day, but we also need to add in a bit of time to promote that writing.

At the very least, you should have a blog (your home for your books), and once you have your blog, you should tie it in to other social media channels to promote.  Here’s a few of the top ones:

 1) FACEBOOK

2) TWITTER

3) GOOGLE+

4) PINTEREST

5) LINKED IN

By the way, this is made so much easier with Scoop. It content curation. You can set up the scoops to update your blog, and all your other social media feeds. Also make sure to include an RSS subscription feed, on your blog, so people can keep updated with your content.

The Challenge of Getting Visibility on Facebook [infographic]

See on Scoop.itEBook Promotion and Marketing

Not a week goes by that I don’t have a conversation with a client or colleague about the frustration and challenge of getting visibility on [..] on Denise Wakeman – Online Visibility Expert…

Penelope‘s insight:

A quick view of this excellent infographic tells me that if we are promoting ourselves and our books on Facebook, pictures win the day!

Think about how you can use the information to your advantage:

 1)  PICTURES of your books

 2)  PICTURES of yourself

 3)  Find some free PICTURES to accompany any posts you make on your timeline with some insights from you.

 4)  Consider spending a small amount of $$ per month promoting KEY posts.

 The possibilities are endless!
